16 Sep SNIS Journey
I, Lisha S Gowda, am studying in one of the best international schools in Bangalore – Sharanya Narayani International School (SNIS). In our school, we learn to work as a team as collaboration is on the core 21st Century skills which every student should develop.
At my school SNIS, my teacher allows me the freedom to explore any topic of my choice. Our school believes in Unity in Diversity. Even though everyone is different, SNIS treats all of them the same. SNIS is a nest of students from different countries and we welcome all to be a part of our journey in this great school.
Thinking school, inquiring minds – a quote followed by our school. We have many specialist periods such as Visual Art, Dance, Music and Physical Education where we get opportunities to engage in team activities. As Michael Jordan, a professional basketball player says “Talent wins games but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” To foster teamwork, all students in the school are grouped into four houses that compete in various school-organized events. I belong to Magnolia House, which includes members aged 6 to 17. We collaborate to brainstorm ideas and prepare for both group and individual competitions. At the end of the year, the house with the highest overall score wins the championship cup and we celebrate as a team.
I study in Grade 5 where I think teamwork is very important in my learning. One of our key milestones is the PYP Exhibition, when we work in groups to explore the UN SDGs. We brainstorm, inquire, research, and present our findings as a team which makes the process meaningful and joyful. We also engage in “Taking Action” when we give back to the community as an extension of our learning. Isn’t working in teams a wonderful thing? We welcome all to join us on this beautiful journey at the outstanding International School, which is my school SNIS !!!
