“Education is preparation for life”
~ Swami Vivekananda
At SNIS, students are prepared to face different facets and challenges life offers. One such opportunity comes when students understand the needs of others and put forth an honest effort to make life better for those in need. Towards this endeavour, SNIS organized its first student-led initiative “SNIS Run for Care Marathon” where participants took part in either a 3K/5K run or 3K walk on 25th January 2020, to raise funds for Karunashraya, a Bangalore based Cancer Hospice Trust.
The walk/run, through 60 acres of wooded land, away from the hustle and bustle of the city was a huge success with over 500 people signing up for the event. Students from SNIS got everyone warmed up and ready for the run by starting off with an energizing Zumba session. All participants enthusiastically took part and successfully finished the walk/run they signed up for and were happy to receive finisher’s medals to mark their efforts. It was a joy to see participants as young as 3 years old and as young-at-heart as 89-year-old completing the run equally cheerfully. Our student volunteers and staff ensured that everyone enjoyed the day as they contributed for this noble cause.
Running was definitely made more meaningful for this worthwhile cause and we look forward to continuing our support to Karunashraya in our next Run For Care marathon.
