02 May Success is not final
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts”
– Winston Churchill
Growth happens when we push ourselves beyond our comfort zones. For years, I have believed that progress is only possible when we take risks, face challenges, and step into the unknown. Over time, I have learned that it is not always success that shapes us—it is the setbacks, failures, and the lessons they bring.
One of the most significant things I have realized through my experiences is that perfection can be like a barrier to true growth. Striving for perfection often keeps us stuck in fear of failure, preventing us from trying new things and it is often a key reason for procrastination. We get so caught up in wanting to do things flawlessly that we hesitate to start and take risks. However, it is only by starting and taking those risks, even if we fall short, that we truly grow.
When I faced setbacks in my journey, I found that rather than holding me back, they pushed me to become stronger and develop my resilience. It was in those moments of failure that I learned how to bounce back stronger. Just like how I lost when I ran for Juniper House Captain, but then ran again the next year and earned the vice-captain position—if it weren’t for that failure, I wouldn’t have tried again
Accepting failure isn’t an easy thing, but it is essential. Failure teaches us valuable lessons that success cannot. It reminds us that growth does not happen in a straight line—it’s a road filled with twists and turns, ups and downs. Without accepting the possibility of failure, we tend to limit ourselves from exploring new paths and pushing further than we ever thought possible. It is our brain that limits us.
At Sharanya Narayani International School (SNIS), one of the top international schools in Bangalore, we are taught that it is not about being perfect; it is about embracing the journey, learning from the process, and continuing to move forward. The most meaningful progress comes when we take risks, learn from setbacks, and keep pushing ourselves toward improvement.
As students of SNIS, one of the best IB Schools in Bangalore, we need to remember this: “Don’t let perfection hold you back from achieving more and more; embrace failure, step out of your comfort zone, and allow yourself to grow beyond what you think you are truly capable of doing. Keep pushing, keep learning, and keep growing.”
