Discover Our 60‑Acre Green Sanctuary
SNIS’s sprawling 60-acre green campus provides a safe, construction-free, state-of-the-art infrastructure that is conducive to teaching and learning. The architectural design of our campus encompasses details that include attention to environment, aesthetics and comfort.
Our campus has over 2000 trees including horse neem, neem, jackfruit, rose apple, jamun, guava, pomegranate, gooseberry, pineapple, papaya, mango, litchi, grape fruit, avocado, star fruit, water apples, fig, beetle nut, cherries, coconut, etc. The entire perimeter of the campus is surrounded by two layers of trees – silver oak on the outer edge which cuts down any dust from coming in and a second layer of fruit trees providing organic fruits for the students and staff of SNIS.
Benefits of organic farming are taught to students at all levels and we encourage them to get their “hands dirty” by providing ample space for them and making gardening a part of school club activity. The produce is used in the school cafeteria.
Being away from the hustle and bustle of the city, our students and staff enjoy the pollution free atmosphere where the campus has become a natural habitat for various birds.
Our Commitment to a Greener Future
Being an environment friendly, green campus we actively promote reduce, reuse, recycle and other sustainable ways of life including the following:
- Solar powered campus: In our commitment towards making the campus 100% environment friendly, our entire campus is lit with solar street lights and our Academic block is completely solar power enabled.
- Architecture & design (all windows face North & South) permits us to have ample natural light and fresh air both in our academic block and boarding thereby reducing our dependence on artificial light and air conditioning. This in turn significantly reduces electricity consumption.
- Taking advantage of the natural elevation of the land, the academic block has been designed is such a way that two floors of the building have the designation of being ground floors. This gives an additional benefit in terms of fire safety.
- Rain Water Harvesting
- In-house Sewage Treatment Plant
- Almost zero percent waste construction
