02 Mar Gaming – Fun and Learning Through Media
I am Drona from PYP 4, studying in SNIS, one of the best International schools in Bangalore. Do you know that gaming is my favourite hobby? During our Unit on Media, we explored different types of media such as print media, digital media, and interactive media. My main interest was gaming, which is a form of digital and interactive media. Whenever I am bored, I play video games for a little while.
Gaming always helps me relax after school. It helps me when I am bored, sad, or tired. Gaming is special to me because I like to have fun in life, and having fun in a balanced way is healthy for me.
My favourite game is Fortnite. It is a fun shooter game with many experiences inside it. You can play with different players from all over the world, which shows how the media connects people globally. There are also many communication methods in games. For example, voice chat is like a phone call where you can talk to the people you are playing with.
Gaming helps your brain when you play adventure and problem-solving games. These games require you to solve puzzles or complete challenges. Many games need good teamwork and coordination to win or complete levels. While playing, you also learn to share, take turns, and cooperate with others, which are important life skills.
At SNIS, the best boarding school in India, we also learned that it is important to control screen time and stay safe online during our unit on Media. To stay safe while using communication tools, we should never share personal information with strangers. Too much screen time is unhealthy and can affect our lifestyle. We can manage this by setting alarms or timers to reduce device usage and maintain balance. At SNIS, teachers also encourage us to be balanced by playing outdoors with my friends to stay healthy and building habits like reading and pursuing other hobbies. Using these strategies, I am able to enjoy gaming while staying safe and in control of my time spent in gaming.
