ESL Camp

Sharanya Narayani International School (SNIS) is offering its sixth ESL Camp in April 2019.

The objectives of the camp are:

  • To give proficiency in English Language.
  • To reach a level of proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening
  • To nurture self-pride & self-identity in each student’s linguistic and cultural heritage
  • To provide curricular and extra-curricular opportunities for all Campers

Duration: Four weeks

Dates: April 2 – April 30, 2019

Age group: 9 years – 14 years

Schedule

  • April 2, 2019 (Tuesday) — Students arrive
  • April 3, 2019 (Wednesday) — Induction
  • April 29, 2019 (Monday) — Last day of the camp
  • April 30,2019 (Tuesday) — Students depart

Course Outline:

  • Theme based ESL classes connecting all content areas
  • Project-Based Learning
  • Role-plays, Mime and Charades
  • Art, Music, Adventure, Life Skills
  • Leadership Shills
  • Conversation and fluency; public Speaking & Performances

Accommodation & Food

  • Boys and Girls will be accommodated in separate hostels under the supervision of dorm parents
  • They will follow regular hostel timings
  • Four students in one hostel room with en suite bathroom
  • Indian and International cuisines

Teacher chaperoned day trips on weekends to explore Bangalore and surrounding areas

  • Parents are recommended to give Rs. 10000/weekend for outings to be used to buy their own lunch/snacks & to buy any gifts/souvenirs for their family
  • Breakfast & dinner will be on campus.

Medical Facilities

  • Infirmary on campus with nurse on-campus 24/7
  • Doctors on call; Ambulance on call

SNIS has partnership with Sakra Hospital and Columbia Asia Hospitals

  • March 26, 2017 (Sunday) — Students arrive
  • March 27, 2017 (Monday) — Orientation followed by classes.
  • May 6,2017 (Saturday) — Students leave SNIS

Components of the ESL camp

  • ESL Classes (3 – 4 periods/day)
  • Music/Visual Art/ Dance/ Robotics/ THOTS (2 periods/ day)
  • Science (Two periods/day)
  • Physical education (Two periods/day and every afternoon 4:00 – 6:00 pm.)
  • Few evening social events will be conducted on campus
  • In every activity learning English will be emphasized so that students will learn English both formally & informally

Accommodation & Food

  • Nutritious veg and non-veg meals (Indian and International cuisines) will be provided
