SNIS is authorized to conduct Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint exams at the end of Grade 8. Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint tests have been designed to assess learners at the end of Cambridge Secondary 1. They are available in English, English as a Second Language, Mathematics and Science. They give detailed feedback on learner’s strengths and weaknesses so that students are better prepared for the next stage of education. All tests are marked externally by Cambridge following International educational benchmarks for learner performance. Each learner receives a statement of achievement and a diagnostic report from Cambridge.

The tests cover all major areas of learning in the Cambridge Secondary 1 curriculum frameworks for English, English as a second language, mathematics and science. Each learner receives-

  • A Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint score for the whole subject
  • A Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint score for each main topic/skill
  • A list of the questions (and the sub-topics/skills) where the candidate’s performance was particularly strong or particularly weak
  • A statement of achievement.

The detailed feedback helps students to identify their interests in different academic disciplines and make choice of subjects in the next level – Cambridge IGCSE.
